The development of the MRC Information System Portal is an ongoing effort, originally developed under the long-term cooperation between the Mekong River Commission, Canadian Space Agency (CSA) and Canadian Center Center for Remote Sensing/Natural Resources Canada (NRCAN). The development has been done primarily by the MRC Secretariat Technical Support Division's Database/GIS Team and a group of Canadian consultants, funded by CSA and NRCAN.
The development of the Portal has been done in phases. The initial phase was finalized in end of February 2004, when a beta version of the Portal was released. The second phase was finalized by end of May 2005, and the first proper version of the Portal was launched in-house at the MRC Secretariat in January 2006. New functions, services or components will be developed and added from time to time in the future.
The Map and Metadata Explorer services are based on ArcIMS from ESRI Inc. The Portal is best viewed in Windows Explorer, with a screen resolution of 1024x768 pixels or higher.
For more information on the Portal, please contact the Technical
Support Division at the MRC Secretariat.
